Testimonial

Hi, I’m Dema and I’m 11. I was born in Alor which is an island off the coast of West Timor. When I was very young, both my parents died. My 5 siblings and I moved into my grandfather’s house. My grandfather was very poor and could not provide for the 8 of us. Life was hard and tough. We would often go without food and we could not afford an education. We were in a desperate situation and to help my grandfather bring in income I started to work in the rice fields. This was very hard and I felt like no one cared about me. I felt like they did not care that I was a child working and they did not want to give me an education. I felt lonely and I did not know about Jesus.

Then one day, in 2005 I met Paulus and Marliesye Wiratno, who told me about the Children’s home in Denpasar, Bali. I thought this was a good chance to go to school. I decided to go to the Children’s Home. For the first time in my life I felt happy, because I decided to have a relationship with Jesus. I still do jobs around the home, but I am happy that I no longer have to work. I am happy because I can go to school, have a bed to sleep in and have food.  I have people who care about me and love me. My favourite animal is the rabbit, I like to watch Isabella and my hobby is basketball.

I, like many others need your support so that I can continue to go to school, achieve goals and develop my gifts and talents. If you have been touched by this story, and would like to donate, you can make an online donation. Just click on sponsorship.
