Who we are

Mercy Indonesia Foundation was started on 10 May 2001 by Paulus and Marliesye Wiratno. It began with an unwed mother who gave away her three day old baby boy to Paulus and Marliesye. Two weeks after that another woman contacted Marliesye, wanting to give away her baby. The story went on and more unwanted and abandoned babies have been given to Marliesye and Paulus.

Realizing the need of rescuing babies and orphans, Paulus and Marliesye then started foundation called Mercy Indonesia which gives legal existence for the government and also the community.

In September 2004, Paulus was invited by the head of the social department of Bali province to promote the mission of Mercy Indonesia Foundation. As a result, many people have come forward to give to the ministry and to adopt babies.

Mercy Indonesia is expanding its territory by rescuing desperate orphans from East Timor who have been living in refugee camps in Atambua-West Timor. Currently Mercy Indonesia Foundation is planning on establishing four orphanages in West Timor, West Sumba, Central Java and Aceh.

Mercy Indonesia has been working closely with international organization Warm Blankets Orphan Care, which has the experience and expertise in rescuing orphans all over the world.

Our Approach to the Problem

Mercy Indonesia is dedicated to taking in the orphaned children of Indonesia and bringing them into our hearts and into our children homes. Here, we meet our children’s physical, spiritual, emotional and mental needs in a close relationship with their Creator. The primary caregivers in our children homes are orphans. They have first hand experience of what it feels like to be completely alone and unwanted in this big world; thus, our caregivers are more compassionate and empathetic towards our children than, perhaps, most others may be.

You Can Help Make A Difference

The important thing to keep in mind, however, is that we really can and must make a difference in the lives of these children. Yet, the work which we have chosen to undertake cannot be completed on our own, and so we turn to people and organizations like you, to financially support us in our endeavor. In order to meet the unique needs of each and every child we bring in to our homes, we request your gracious monetary assistance. Let us not wait until some indefinite point of time in our lives to make a difference; rather, let us act together now, right now, with whatever little or much that we have. Your dollar power, combined with our international outreach program, holds the promise and potential to immediately bring about the much needed, positive changes in the lives of many lost, tired young souls. One more naked child can be clothed, and one more hungry mouth fed, with your generosity. We thank you for your interest in Indonesian Orphans. Please continue to join forces with us as we persist in our mission to bring light into the darkest parts of our world.
